97 ford runing straight pipe after cats

So today i cut the muffler off and i still have the two cats on so the setup is, the cats both lead into a Y pipe and then its just a straight pipe from there out, is this hurting my engine in anyway? if so i will put the muffler back on.

dont hold this to me but what iv herd is that you can get to much back presure with certain setups my buddy and me had to replace an engine after having a cat on only 1 side of the engine for so long and we had ran it so long the company said it forced the engine to run out of line do to more presure on one side but it should be fine if u have same on both side. shit iv run headers to straight pipes all the way back no problem at all.
