I have checked the drum assembly, replaced all drum parts within last year, bled the brake lines and still can not figure out what is wrong. The rear drivers side brake locks up for no reason. Can anyone help me?

I have the same problem with my 93. The rear left drum is hot as a pidtol. I adjudted the shoes, and it was better for one day, then binding again. I think we should check out the parking brake linkage. Lube it up and try that. Let me know how you make out. I'll do the same.

Probably the parking brake lining inside the drum part of the rotor. Or the pawl is siezed in there.

Mullet man,

This truck has rear drum brakes. I'm thinking the cables are binding somewhere. Supposed to be 9 degrees tonight. I don't see myself getting under that thing. I find that if I don't use the parking brake, the binding is hardly there.

My Ranger is having the exact same issue. I have to rock the truck in reverse a couple of times until the wheel eventually pops and releases itself. Did you end up fixing the problem abaton6?

It's been too cold here to worry about it. I just don't use the parking brake, and it seems fine. Have you tried this tactic?
