98 ford shifter automatic
Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone was familiar with replacing the plunger thing that attaches to the gear shifter.
I have a 98 F-150 automatic and this past summer the shifter stopped working correctly. When I want to go into drive or reverse I have to go past the gear I want and then into that gear. I had picked up the parts a while ago and figured I should put them in. I don’t remember the names of the parts but there is the aluminum rod that slides into another aluminum shaft and 2 bushings.
I have been in my dash the past day installing a remote starter and can see what I need to replace, assuming that’s the issue, which I was told by a mechanic. And since I have half the paneling off, why not replace that as well.
I don’t have a repair manual on this vehicle yet and probably should get one. I was hoping that maybe someone has done this before and can give me some advice.
Thanks
~Jon
