99 250 lost 4dr - Ford Forums

I was on the sand and heard a loud pop from the front. After that there was no more power going to the front axle. Truck seems to run fine in 2dr and there is no grinding or noise when I put it into 4dr....the front just doesn't seem to engage. Any help??? Thanks

was doing some power braking in my full sized bronco and had the same thing happen. put it in 4 wheel and drive home with no noise. shearded the pinion and broke a few teeth on the ring. hope this is not what happened to you. if you got manual locking hub, lock them in and try to turn the front drive shaft by hand. it should not spin. if it fee spins you got problems in the diff.

Thanks I'll try that. Motor seems to surge a little bit in 2wd now. Only when in gear. Kind of sounds like a motor with a big cam in it.
