adjustment for shifter(not staying in park)

Dad has a automatic 01 f-150 4x4, and he is having problems with locking into park. Is there an adjustment or would you recommend taking it to a tranny guy. I guess there is a little play in the shifter.

Re: adjustment for shifter(not staying in park)

I've got the same problem with my 99 F-250 Superduty 2WD. In fact, this morning, I thought it was in park when i got out and went into work. 15 minutes later, it almost rolled into our building stopping in the bushes out front! Anyone know any TSB's on this or any way to stop this "jumping out of park" problem? Several times I've put it in park and started to get out only to have it start rolling a little with a loud clicking sound from underneath as if it were trying to be in park, but jumping the "dogs" that put it in park. The indicator shows park...but it ain't in park! WHAT GIVES????
