I have a 1999, F-150, 4X4, 4.6, Auto/Trans. The motor is shot 190,000, I think the rear end needs rebuilt/replaced, it has jumped when put into reverse a couple times. The transmission has about 75,000 miles. New brakes and rotors, front end rebuilt. Truck has been well maintained. My wife needs a truck to pull a horse trailer and one, sometimes two horses 30 mile radius of the house.

Should I put a rebuilt engine in and have the rear end fixed? What would that cost? I expect having to put a tranny in at a later date as well. What would it take to put a 5.4 in this truck, would like more power pulling.
