Air bag code 12

My 1992 F-150 is flashing an air bag code 12. I looked it up and it says something like low voltage.

The battery is brand new and the alternator is running fine. There are absolutly no electrical problems with this vehicle. I have checked the voltage and it is completely normal, no problems at all.

What can I look for?

could be the clock spring. Not too sure what the codes are, but my airbag light started to blink in my 94' and it needed a new clock spring.

if you said it is low voltage, this sounds like the clock spring. If thats broken theres little to no electricity going because the ribbon is broken.

Thank you. When I get time, I will be checking the fuses, again, and that clockspring.

I cannot readily access that info on older vehicles, so I really cannot help out. If it does state a low voltage issue, then it may be the clockspring.

Thank you, also, for your reply. When I get the time, and the weather, I will be rechecking the fuse and that clockspring.

What is a clock spring? Is it something that can be fixed by a novice mechanic?

Re: Air bag code 12

no, you must remove the steering wheel which is potentially dangerous because of the air bag. The clock spring is what connects the controls in the steering wheel to the rest of the truck, but its all a ribbon so everything can turn with the steering wheel. I'll take a pic of the one taken out of my truck.

dmcomputerguy u sure its not a code 32 and not 12
