All you truck dudes... I've got a mutt... a franken truck. It's a 73 sitting 4WD frame. The guy that built it pulled from at least 5 other Fords and I've been verifying things and slowly but surely changing a few things to make it more of a daily driver with a growl rather than a weekend warrior with a bite.

Here's today's discovery: my front differential has 4.09 and my rear is 4.11. I think that's the original configuration, is this a normal combo?

A lot of the older trucks were built like that. They were just slightly off. The newer ones are the same ratio front and rear.

I've actually owned a couple of older 4X4's and I've never paid attention to the front ratio. I wasn't until today that I found out that older ones were not exactly matched. My concern was that my rear is 4.11 posi (4L11.9 365A) which kind of surprised me sine it was a 4 wheel drive.

Mama tried with me too. I remember very well the stripes a Mulberry switch would leave on my ass & legs. Ah, those were the good ole days. With discipline like it is today?? Boy we need to go back like it was... But that's just my opinion.

Remember the issue with the bus monitor and the rotten kids a few weeks ago? Those kids wouldn't have been able to sit for a long time in our day. "Spankings only teach violence" my fanny! Pardon the pun. It taught that there were consequences for poor behavior.

Oh, my mother lacked patience for "getting the switch". she just picked up what ever was close, and if you managed to get out of arms reach, she threw it at you... and she was incredibly accurate!
