Re: Battery Light

Your alternator may not be charging the battery. Check the battery with a voltmeter with the engine idling - it should read about 14.5 volts. If it reads 11 - 12 volts, your alternator isn't working.

Re: Battery Light

It could be a bad wire or connection, but most likely the alt. is bad, as suggested by wwb.

Re: Battery Light

Ya sure enough its a bad altenator. This is the third new battery and altenator combo that has went out in this truck in the past two years and the last one is only 6 month old. I'm starting to think something else is causing the altenator to go out but I don't know what else it could be? What else can cause altenators to go out that quick? I did just have a two month battle with the dome lights and ignition switch bepper, they wouldn't turn off but know thats fixed. Thanks again

Re: Battery Light

Found out it wasn't the altenator, when my battery went out I put a new one in but put it in the wrong way the and it blew the fuses in the radio amp and the 175 watt under the hood which is connected to the altenator. So got everything fixed.
