Does anyone know how long I should plug the Block Heater in before starting up my diesel? How many watts does the heater use?
Thank You

Variables to include that could change the amount of time needed: Size of engine/Outside temperature/where the block heater is- internal vs external mount. Before my cars enjoyed the comfort of a slightly above freezing atmosphere, I would place them on a 15 amp circuit with a heavy duty timer with it set to start 2 to 3 hours before I planned on starting it with an internal block heater (4 cylinder) at up to -15. It was always ready to go. Most block heaters are around 1500 watts- large diesels may be higher wattage- but I think it would need a 20 amp outlet and plug if they were any larger. Maybe more comments or suggestions from other members?
