Can't separate engine and transmission

1994, F250, 5.8L, 4x4, Automatic, 105K miles.

I'm trying to pull my engine and am stuck. All accessories and cables removed. Disconnected the exhaust from the exhaust manifold. Removed 6 bolts between engine and transmission (bell housing). Removed lower cover plate, starter and 4 bolts from flywheel to torque convertor. I removed the bolts from the engine mounts. I can lift the engine up and expect the transmission to breakaway but it doesn't. I have a transmission jack under the transmission and lowered the eng/tran on it thinking they would separate - but still no luck. I have never had this problem before - what am I missing.

Re: Can't separate engine and transmission

Even Though You Took The Bell Housing Bolts Out There Are Dowel Pins That You Cant See Inbetween The Bell Housing And Engine. These Are To Make Sure The Tranny Is Aligned Properly With The Motor. Take A Pry Bar And Stick It Some Where One Part Of The Prybar Is Touching The Motor And The Other The Tranny. Give It A Quick Snap. The Two Should Be Split. Also Even Though You Took The Torque Converter Bolts Out Be Sure To Take A Screw Driver And Pry The Torque Converter Back To The Tranny Side It Should Move About 1/4 Inch. To Make Surethe Convertor Is Completly Free From Center Hub Of Flywheel The Convertor Shoould Spin Freely By Hand.
