Hello,
I have a 89 F350 5.8 351w. I replaced the alternator two days ago and took it to advance auto parts yesterday to make sure everything was working. They told me that the alternator wasn't putting out a charge. I find this hard to believe as my battery meter is reading a charge, but it's low. I put the battery on a charger last night and started the truck up this morning and the battery meter moved up a little more. I was able to drive almost the 10 mile commute to work without the battery meter going down.

So back to my original question, why would the alternator be putting out 0 volts? Is it possible I do have a bad alternator, or is something else?

There's likely a connection problem. Check the volts at the alternator and at the battery when it's running to see if they compare.
