the clutch in my f250 with a 460 has recently gone out and i was wondering if it was maybe the fact that the stock clutch was left in and the engine had too much tork, i am asking because i need to know if i should buy a performance clutch or if i could save the couple extra bucks....

The factory clutch disc and pressure plate that are supplied with the 460 are more than up to the task, provided they are not abused.

You didn't say how many miles you got out of it, but a clutch should last at least 200,000 miles, even in heavy use, as long as it's driven properly. Other than wear on the disc, there is the occasional and unpredictable failure of the pressure plate, which can occur even at relatively low mileage, although usually over 100,000 miles.

i meant that i left the stock clutch on the f250 in, not the clutch that came with the 460.... thanks though...
