Re: consumption!!

Hello Alex:

Ford F-350 crew cab pick up, 6.8 V-10 engine-12 MPG city,16 hwy.
Ford 4WD Excursion 6.0 Diesel engine-16 city,20-22 hwy
Ford Crown Victoria Sport, 4.6 V 8 engine-15 city, 22 hwy.
Ford Shelby GT500 Mustang, 5.4 engine inter-cooled with blower- 12 city, 20 hwy.
Freightliner chassis Fleetwood motor home, 8.3 liter Cummins Diesel, 11 MPG hwy.

As you can see, we consume a lot of fuel in the US, but pay around $3.80 per gallon for gasoline in California. My grand daughter (from Oregon) is visiting Italy and said gas there is about $10 per gallon! I would like to see us use more natural gas for transportation fuel in the US.

yes, that's right, in italy gasoline is very expensive, costs about $ 8.63 / gal (gasoline) and 8,17 $/gal (diesel more widespread use of gasoline), here and in fact already have a car with an engine capacity of more than 2.5L is very expensive to maintain this, we have to consider also that the greater the capacity the greater the cost of the insurance (obligatory in Italy), but I like the big American engines!!!

Re: consumption!!

Hi Alex:

I'm glad that you appreciate American cars. I too have owned cars with smaller engines, mostly because of a long commute to work (I live in the mountains but worked 85 miles away in Los Angeles). Nothing works as well as cubic inches, especially if it's blown, for that good feeling when you run it through the gears. I love to hear the Shelby when it's "on boost". The Shelby has over 600 rear wheel horsepower and I shift out of third gear at 135 MPH (over 130KPH, and NOT on the street) and still have three gears to go. An old cliche' says "it's not the miles per gallon but the smiles per gallon" that counts! How true!

BTW, I hear the food in Italy is the best! Our cars might run on gas, but I run on good food. 'Gotta try Italy's food someday.

Re: consumption!!

yes, even here it is widespread the use of gas, to reduce the cost of gasoline, this really helped people in need with the money, but the performance of a 1.0L or 1.6L gas are not at all exciting.
BTW: of course! the food is the best here! I did not come to America, but I've already planned to come, even though I do not know when :) and sorry for my english! I know it is not perfect!

Re: consumption!!

If you think Italian petrol / gas prices are very expensive , compare to the UK AVERAGE prices .

$9.38 per gallon for petrol / gas
$9.73 per gallon for diesel .
