Question Converting 4WD Tranny To 2WD?

Is it possible to convert a E4OD 4x4 tranny to a 2WD by bolting the extension housing and output shaft to end of tranny where transfer case would bolt on?

Re: Converting Manual to Auto

Yes. But the trans has to be entirely rebuilt to do it.

Re: Converting Manual to Auto

Thanks Thats kindof what I figured. Really not worth the $50 I'd save by getting the 4WD tranny. I'd just rebuild the old one if I wanted to deal with that pain. Worth paying not to have to do the work sometimes. Probably break down and have someone install also. Had it out once replace front seal and put back in and blow all my tranny fluid after about 4 miles Then dropped it again and found the input shaft just pulled right out by hand. No snap rings or anything holding it. Have no tranny jack so real pain in the ass.
