April 19, 2005: 1996 F150 burst into flames after we'd retired for the night. Can we get help anywhere? Thanks.

How bad is it? Is it worth fixing? I take it you didnt have insurance on it either? Have any pics to go along with it?

Re: Crispy Fried 96 F150

Have not downloaded the pictures yet. No, we'd just reduced the coverage to liability only since the truck is so seldom driven. Was in excellent shape, but now the cab forward is melted/rubble. The bench seat could possibly be repaired but the dash was melted to the floor. The bed still looks as good as ever. You can tell the spot where fire started and have since been informed that it had something to do with the cruise control. The police and fire departments will not respond to my request for reports. Pictures tomorrow.

Re: Crispy Fried 96 F150

Probably too late....there is a recall on the cruise control, for that very reason. I would check a lawyer for best thing to do. If you get anything from insurance you won't get anything from Ford.
