Cruise control stress

I have a 2003 F-250 S.D. 7.3 diesel with a cruise control that's acting up. Ford dealership(s) can't figure it out because it does not leave an error code, and they can't reproduce the problem.
With the cruise on, the engine will stall and will not restart until the ignition is fully turned off for a few seconds. The starter will turn but the engine won't start. The tach and speedometer also go to zero. When I get to a stop, I have to put it in Park to shut the switch off, then I am able to start it. I have no problem when I use the foot pedel.

Any suggestions would be helpful...............

Re: Cruise control stress

Well I would think the the cruise control sensor is bad and I'd replace the unit but Ford should be able to check that for you. Unless they are not Test driving you car to reproduce the problem. If they are just hooking it up to the computer and not getting an error they are going to have to go to trial and error.
