takenoprisoner Registered User Join Date: Oct 2011 Posts: 17	Derating 5.8L Horse Power Hi I have a 97 f250 hd with a 5.8 v8 The gas mileage is horrible. It seems like 10 mpg Ive been told you can change the intake manifold, and install a chip to derate the engine. Less hp= Greater mpg I been thinking about getting a ford ranger to save on gas but i love my f250. if i could get better mileage id keep it forever. Would like to know if anyone can advise me about doing this, and pointing me in the right direction. thanks
