I just purchased a 1993 F-250 Diesel with the E40D transmission. the truck sat for 2 years prior to purchase, so I am working out the bugs & and a few ground squirrels! Anyhow It blew out the front transmission seal (somewhat expected) so I replaced this and changed the transmission filter (it was shifting hard since the purchase) This seemed to cure the hard shift problem however the transmission doesn't move the truck heading up hill when starting out. is also seems to take a lot of engine RPM to get the truck moving up hill. Another oddity is that when attempting to start out I blow the speedometer fuse. I also noted that the overdrive button and cruise control don't work. I am not sure if these are related problems or not. All of these symptoms all occured before the seal and filter change I was hoping that some of this is related . I would appreciate any assistance.

There's a transmission electornic control assy left of the master cylinder that controls the system. Does the ABS system work? The speed sensor on the differential gives the speed calculations. You have checked all of the fuses inside and out? Maxi-fuse # 1 controls the main transmission circuit.
