electrical nightmare 1990 f250

Hi, I have a 1990 f250 4x4 and had issues with it since I bought it. It's been sitting for about 4 months. I decided to rid myself of it and put it on local corner. ran fine everything else fine. Well yesterday had guy looking and throttle kept sticking open. Sprayed springs where cable come in at intake. fine. then it does it again. So I put it back in parking spot and went and seen buddy of mine(mechanic). We go look at it and fine but battery cables hotter then hell. He said I have a open circuit somewhere. He has no time to look at in depth. He tells me if I want to spend $ go to electrical auto place. Me,No!

Anyone have any ideas. New starter & new alternator. But could have something holding up gear on starter and causing this.
