confused electrical problem with dash guages and door locks

I have a 99 F-250 powerstroke. On cold mornings when I turn the ignition to warm the glow plugs, only 2 lights come on, seatbelt and Batt. The truck will start normally but no guages work on the dash, the door open bell dings and the power door locks go up and down continuously. At engine RPM above idle the bell and locks stop only to return when I let off the gas. I thoght it was a bad ground at the Batts so I cleaned the posts and reconnected the cables. Still does it until it warms up then all is normal. Please help, it is making me crazy.

Re: electrical problem with dash guages and door locks

if there were three rules to follow when working on a fords electrical system , I would say they are these:
1:check your grounds
2:check your grounds
3:and finally,check your grounds

fords are the worlds worst about groud wires, and they have more than any other vehicle I have ever worked on. good luck
