Tune up & replace the fuel filter. Start cheap!
You didn't mention your miles or year of the vehicle. You can try scanning the vehicle for engine codes. The light may have popped on for a second or so and stored a code when you weren't looking. It won't hurt to check. Autozone in the US will do this at no charge.
