Could anyone possibly tell me what Ford did to go from 13,000lb. on the 2004 F-350 to 15,000lb. on the 2005.

They did not change the motor....still the 6.0 Diesel.

Complete suspension change is what happened.

Not for nothing but thats sounds like the typical Ford salesman answer.

Does that mean shocks & leafs, with no rear axle change. Did they beef up the frame? A different shock? More leafs, heavier????

I am not a salesman. I am a Ford tech and work on plenty of Super Duty models. Like I said "Complete suspension change".

Ford has done away with the front leaf-spring suspension, replacing it with with a new monobeam coil spring front suspension. Such efficient packaging of the new front suspension allows the front wheels to turn 18-percent further. (The front suspension on two-wheel-drive pickups remains unchanged.)

Ford engineers say this design change dramatically improves maneuverability and reduces the average turning circle by more than 5.5 feet. Going from a leaf spring to a link-coil front suspension gives the new Super Duty several advantages, including increased roll stiffness, more weight capacity, and the ability to fine-tune the ride.

The frame and rear suspension are the same as previous models with 2 axle setups to choose from.
