f 350 altenator gauge spikes - Ford Forums

I have a 99 f350 v10 i installed a new altenator truck charges fine. As you drive the gauge will spike over 18 and the battery light comes on. this will happen for a short time then go back to normal. I have had the new altenator checked everything is ok. any ideas?

what was your original problem prior to alternator replacement., are your battery and alternator connections clean and secure., it seems you may be temporarily overcharging due to a loss of battery or alternator to battery connection.
