F150 no start
Hello: I have a F150 that cranks but does not start. The theft light blinks fast and after throws out a code 16 (no comm from PATS to PCM/faulty wiring). I tried to check the coil that is on the ignition key barrel by opening up the PATS module. There are three wires goin into the coil assembly and I checked them for voltage when the ignition is in the ON position - no voltage. As I understand it, the PATS module sends current to the coil to energize the transponder in the key. Is it AC or DC that is being sent to the coil? Another wierd thing - sometimes the vehicle will start just fine and after shutting it off and re-starting it again, it won't. With the coil assembly out of the PATS circuit, I get the fault code 12 and with the electrical connector completely off the PATS module, I get code 20. I strongly feel that the PATS system has something to do with this problem but why the intermittent start/no-start symptom?
