f250 front end u joint replacement? - Ford Forums

My first post, looking for some help. I have a F250 Super Duty, 2005 work truck which is worked in the mountains HARD. I have a bad steering knuckle u-joint to replace on the right side. I've done numerous ones on the older models. I'm into this one to the point of the sealed bearing. (Older ones had the special tool to take out the wheel bearings and nut, and then the axle is ready to slide out.) Can I put a puller on the hub and slide it off the axel at this point?

got it figured out. New rigs are more modular. The sealed bearings and hub are bolted to the steering bracket from the inside. The next thing that was a pain was the axel/spindle was retained in the steering bracket by layered dust seal which I drove out from the inside out. Not much room to work with a BFH, but with an extented bar the axel and dust seal all finally slid out. Talk about a huge u joint. I can't believe I tore it up so bad. I think the lube/oil place I've been using, has been missing the grease zerk and it got too dry.
