I just purchased a 1999 F250 Super Duty, crew cab, 5-speed manual, 8’ bed with a V10, 90,000 miles. The problem is I need two replace license plate light assembles (3¼”x2¼” part number 10072-1 ---FG-029)in the rear bumper. I have talked to the local Ford dealer, they ordered an assembly but it was ½ the size. The after market people say it’s stock and Dealer states it’s after market! Any suggestions are appreciated.

Do you have pics of the bumper and light assembly on there now? It may well be an aftermarket bumper that is on your truck. The truck may have been in a rear end accident and had it replaced by non factory ford parts. This can be the cause. I would do a vin check on it. You can do these on line now and they dont cost much. Will tellyou everything you need to know about the history of your truck.

I bet it is an aftermarket bumper that was put on.

I need the same part... did you find anything? I am getting the same responses from the Ford dealer, but we don't have a very good aftermarket store around to check at.
