I have a F250 Superduty PowerStroke with 66,000 miles on it. Recently it began losing Transmission fluid from the front seal when backing with a load (5th wheel travel trailer) Does anyone know what might be casuing this?
Mine does the same thing. Except tonight it puked ALOT of fluid after going up a mountain road. I'm looking for answers, but I think the only real answer is at the ford dealer with a lot of dollar signs on the end.
i have a f250 that leaks tranmission oil when i put it in reverse, after pulling a camper,, if i pull the camper at 70mph it will leak out the vent , if i pull the camper at 60mph nothing happens....wonder does it need an external cooler?
Had an older F150 that did the same in hot weather and towing a trailer.
We ditched the stock tranny cooler and put in a much better product. Presto no more leak.
Apparently Fords blow tranny fluid past the seal if they overheat. Keep the fluid cool and no problem.
BTW I now have an F350 diesel beast.
