F450 landscape dump truck tires
It's time for new tires on our '06 F450 landscape dump truck. Currently it's got Double Coin RT500s (12 ply) on the front and Dynacargo DY512s on the back (all 6 tires are 225/70R19.5) Was curious as to why there are diff. tires on front vs. rear as the tread patterns are similar so I wouldn't think it's for grip (truck isn't 4wd).
A tire center nearby recommended the Sumitomo ST718 Rib tires, similar size. Are these tires any good? Also, they said they don't balance the rear tires on a dually, yet we're supposed to rotate them. That doesn't make any sense. Any other tire suggestions we may consider for installing on our truck? Weight limits (min. 12 ply) are most important as our trucks are routinely overloaded w/ stone, bricks, & wood chips.
Note: just went by the Ford dealership and looked at all their landscape dump trucks in the lot (about 15 of them) and they all had Continental HSRs (front) & HDRs (rear) so maybe those are a possibility. Anyone had experience w/ these tires?
