"Fail Safe" light, but functions normally?
I have a 2005 F-150 4.2L 4X2 Super Cab with close to 80K miles. About a week ago, after hauling my horse trailer for a distance, I turned the truck off, and a few hours later upon re-start, the fail-safe light was on. (I had to look it up in the manual to find out what the little wrench meant.) But the truck drove fine.
When I reached my destination (aprrx 5miles away), I turned the truck off. Let it sit for a min. And then re-started it. No fail-safe light.
It's been fine since then. Towed my horse trailer this past Friday, no problem. Then towed the trailer again on Sat, and drove the truck a few times since then. But last night, I turned the truck on, and there was the wrench light again! Turned it off, let it sit, then started the engine... And no light...
Any ideas? Could it be functioning as an idiot light? Or should I be concerned?
