2014 Ford F150, bought the truck (with additional parts from local truck dealer) on Jan. 21, on Feb 13, three weeks after purchase, the #6 connecting rod broke and destroyed the motor with only 545 miles. I haven't even made the first payment. I have been driving Fords my hole life and this will probably be the last. The dealer has been jerking me around for 5 days. They want to put a new motor in and I want a new truck. Seems to me if something breaks because of a manufacturing defect 3 weeks into ownership it should be replaced. (F-150 STX 5.0L V8.)
Sorry for your luck but just because an engine went you don't get a new truck. And to be perfectly honest not all cases would it be a complete engine. If it's determined it's repairable it gets repaired. And please remember the dealer isn't Ford motor company. It's not even there decision. We have rules we have to follow and a procedure to follow to determine the repair it gets. If ford were to say put a piston and rod in it that's all the dealer is authorized to do ( not saying that's the case with your motor I haven't seen it) if they were to replace the engine they dealer would eat the entire cost of repair.
Do you have any other details? Very uncommon for an engine to go that soon. And you say a 2014 with 500 miles? Also you said motor went on Feb 13th. Today is only the 8th.
