Ford Holds the Line on 2005 F-Series Super Duty Pricing

Ford Holds the Line on 2005 F-Series Super Duty Pricing

Motor Trend, July 2004

Ford has announced that more than 75 percent of the new F-Series Super Duty lineup, including the popular F-250, will have no price increase for the 2005 model year. Where prices increase, they rise by an average of approximately one percent.

The Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Prices (MSRP) for 2005 F-250 and F-350 Super Duty pickups will range from $22,390 to $38,365, plus destination and delivery charges of $795. Base MSRPs for F-350, F-450 and F-550 chassis cab models range from $22,965 to $44,125, plus destination and delivery charges of $795. The comparable price range for today's 2004 F-Series Super Duty lineup is $22,390 to $43,745.

With three cab styles, three engine choices, two box lengths, three trim levels, numerous axles, 17 or 18 inch wheels, F-Series Super Duty pickups and chassis cabs are the most versatile and offer the widest choices of configurations of any truck lineup on the market. Pricing examples of comparably equipped 2005 and 2004 Super Duty models and popular options:·

A popular model of the 2005 Super Duty lineup, an F-250 XLT Crew Cab 4x4 powered by Ford's 6.0-liter Power Stroke diesel V-8 engine and TorqShift automatic transmission, will carry a base MSRP of $41,375 (plus destination and delivery charges of $795) - only $25 more than a comparably equipped 2004 model.

· A typical 2005 Super Duty F-250 XL Regular Cab 4x2 powered by Ford's 5.4-liter gas engine and TorqShift automatic transmission and 17 inch wheels, will carry a base MSRP of $24,675 (plus destination and delivery charges) - only $395 more than a comparably equipped 2004 model.

· A stronger 2005 Super Duty F-350 XLT SRW (Single Rear Wheel) Crew Cab 4x4 pickup powered by Ford's 6.0-liter PowerStroke diesel and TorqShift automatic transmission and 18 inch wheels, will carry a base MSRP of $42,440 (plus destination and delivery charges) - only $315 more than a comparably equipped 2004 model.

Highlights for 2005 include:
· Best-in-class max tow ratings - 15,000 pounds conventional; 17,000 pounds with a fifth-wheel trailer
· Class-leading payload - up to 5,800 pounds of cargo in the F-350 dually
· TowCommand System - a combination of standard and optional features that makes towing easier, including an industry-first factory-installed integrated trailer brake controller.
· The segment's most powerful gasoline engine, the 6.8-liter three-valve Triton V-10 with 355 horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque.
· Upgrades to the best-selling Power Stroke diesel, now with 570 pound-feet of torque
· New front suspension and improved steering for better ride, handling and maneuverability in 4x4 pickups and all F-450 and F-550 chassis cabs. · Design changes that include a bolder, tougher look up front, the segment's only 18- and 20-inch wheels and a more refined interior.

Available in dealerships late summer, the 2005 Super Duty will be built at Ford Motor Company's Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville, Ky.
