Ford Sync on 2013 F150, with Android for Nav
Hey, some quick questions. Just bought a new 2013 F150 XTR SuperCrew. I've done some searching on the Sync system, (quite a bit actually) and I'm well aware about it locking the phone screen so you don't monkey with it while driving (And I agree with that in principal).
though much like a standalone GPS system, you may want to SEE a map while navigating. And I didn't get the nav package on the truck specifically because I intended to use my rather large android phone (phablet, the Galaxy Note 2). As a navigation system using Google Maps and Navigation.
Now that said, I can still do that without any issues. But once I realized how extensive and extensible Sync was I realized "Hey, I might be able to use the sync system to control my phone so I can go hands free, but let it display the maps).
Unfortunately from what I've initially read this doesn't seem to be possible.
Has anyone found any workarounds for that? Or am I going to have to download the Sync SDK and code something up myself lol.
Again I want to AVOID touching my phone, so want to use the voice and steeringwheel controls, but to navigate using the google maps screen, so I can SEE the map and basic nav data.
I haven't picked up the truck yet, get it on Tuesday. That's why I'm asking rather than just trying it lol. And yes I have searched on this fairly extensively. So far I've found Sync Lock Pick, which seems to disable the vehicle in motion stuff, but it does it by interrupting the canbus interface to sync, which is a problem. I WANT sync to have the vehicle data.
