"Open-element" means "not in a box", like the K&N FIPK. The one to get is the regular drop-in direct-replacement filter, which goes in the factory box.
One way to Check is to go to the K&N website and putting in your info and find the same Cold Air Intake and check to see if the model is the same compared to the 97 and 99 and the size difference in motors...But I believe it will fit fine
oh dang! I guess I should pay more attention to what I read before I post. If you have been given the whole Cold Air Intake then awesome. If you have just received the filter then Im not sure if itll fit unless the factory intakes of both years and size engines are the same. The only gain you will get with a K&N filter is that it is reuseable and slightly better flowing. But with performance, you want the whole intake.
