Question Hooking up new HU NEED HELP!

Hi everyone. ok im not new to installing headunits in cars but today i finally tackled my dads 97 f-150. Now i have a couple of questions. The HU that im using is a alpine cde-9842. I have all the wires connected except for two wires. Also, this truck does not have the premium sound system. How I have it connected is as follows:

Constant-green/purple(fact harness) yellow coming from new hu
Switched-black/pink(fact harness) red coming from hu
Ground-black/green(fact harness) ground from hu

That is exactly how i have it connected to the new hu. But the new hu is not turning on. I have two wires that i dont know what they go to. one is a black wire(its smaller that the ground wire and doesnt have any other color on it to correspond with anything). The other one is a blue/black wire that i dont know what it is for. I dont have the remote turn on wire connected cause im not using a seperate amp. I have tried it anyways just to rule it out. I cannot figure out for the life of me why its not turning on. The only thing i havent tried yet is connecting that black wire that i dont know what its for to the ground as well to see if its another ground wire. I doubt it though just because its smaller than the other ground wire. Please help. im ready to take a sledge to my dashboard.
