Horrible Vibration on highway!

Hey just a quick newbie question, today I was driving down the highway about 60mpg and my 03 f-150 started to vibrate very badly, I mean I though the tire was going to fly off. So I pulled over had a look and everything looked fine, so I kept driving everything seemed fine again.

My tires on my drive axle are different brands with slightly different wear, would this be enough to start the vibration or what else could this be?

Thanks appreciate it.

Re: Horrible Vibration on highway!

Welcome to the forums. Was the vibration in the steering wheel, seat, was it faster than a tire balance? Has it stopped? If it quit, maybe something on the raod wrapped around the driveshaft or wheel area.

Re: Horrible Vibration on highway!

That seems like something you'd have to experience to figure out. So the vibration goes away and doesn't happen with the same speeds and all?

It went away and drove fine after I stopped, I'm sure it's going to happen again.

Re: Horrible Vibration on highway!

Check your u-joints and grease them if you can. That might be the vibe your feeling, if the whole truck is vibeing on you, next have your balanced and rotated.
