Inside light wont go off - Ford Forums

When i turn the truck off and close the door the light doesnt go off. Its a 2004 f 250 diesel. I made sure all the doors were closed and they are. made sure the light switch was off and it was. The door ajar light is on when im driving. What could be wrong? I know the doors are shut tightly so thats not it.

Common problem on the fords. Spray the latch liberally, (that's where the switch is) with WD40 or penetrating fluid of some sort. Open and shut door several times. Hopefully the llight will go out. Be sure to do both doors, it could be either one.

I had the same problem on my 99 f250. Door ajar light stayed lit on dash, interior dome light wouldn't go out and outside cargo lights stayed on. I sprayed the heck out of both door locks with wd-40 and has worked fine since. The door jamb switches are now built into the lock mechanism and get crudded up. Has appearently been a typical ford problem. Spray 'em with wd-40, open and close the doors a few times and see if that helps.
