I own a 1994 F-150.5.0 liter, auto transmission. When I am accelerating from a complete stop it will jolt or lunge when shifting into 1st and 2nd gear. It is not very noticeable into the higher gears. There is also some very slight lunging when it is downshifting but is not very noticeable. What is unusual is that it does not happen all the time. It will go on for a week or so then seem to work fine the next week. It has been going on now for over a year and does not seem to get worse or better. I took vehicle to a Transmission Mechanic and when he tested it he said everything tested fine. The fluid and filter has been changed and is at the correct level. I also had the speed sensor changed. One other odd thing is that the cruise control does not work when the problems are occurring. I am wondering if it is something electrical. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
my truck was doing something like that..it would shift hard in 1st and 2nd and the check engine light would be on and some days it would come off and it would shift fine...ended up being a crapy throttle position sensor, a $60 fix. maybe its the same problem.
