just bought f150 have a few questions it is a 96 f150 351 4x4 ex cab it has 220000 miles it runs really good but it starts hard some times i think it needs a tune up and a fueol filter the tranny shifts a bit hard some times is this normal when i drive slow it chugs like it is missing so i think a tune up will help a lot is this a good running engine i got a k&n filter and i gutted all the cats and put a flow master exhaust on it im going to be using it to tow my mustang to the track and back so hopefully it wont leave me stranded

Re: just bought f150

your gettin up there in miles but yes it is a very good engine and truck.
with those miles on it i would start from one end and work my way to the other end and do a complete and thorough check up on it if you plan on keeping it and making it work on the weekends.
i would start with the engine and change all fluids and filters and even do a leakdown or compression test on it to see what condition the motor is really in.
it might even need new injectors with that kind of milage.
if its an auto trans i would do a complete trans fluid change including the torque converter.
then move to the front end and rear end to check ball joints and fluids in the diff housings.
hope this answers some of your questions but if not just post away and someone will answer them.
just be more specific so everyone is talking about the same thing.

i would rather push my Ford than drive your Chevy !
