Need Help With Parking Brake On Super Duty Please!

I need some advice. I just purchased a '97 SD, 15,000GVW Flatbed with a 7.5L and auto trans. The truck runs great and will fit my business needs nicely.

There is one problem though, the parking brake doesn't hold at all. We dropped the driveshaft and tried tapping and pulling but cannot seem to remove the drum to check the linings. I don't see any retaining clips around the studs. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Wow, that's strange, a 15,000GVW truck and only 4 lugs. You may need to adjust the shoes through the back plate. Penetrating fluid around the hub and a few whacks with a BFH may help.

Sorry if I wasn't clear: The parking brake on this model is at the rear of the transmission. Those are not "lugs" but are studs that hold the front end of the driveshaft flange. We tried the WD40 and BFH to no avail.

And not to worry, there are 10 lugs on each wheel.

Never worked on one of these big trucks. I should have figured something was different when you said you pulled the drive shaft.
Tried heat??

It turns out there are 6 bolts holding the drum assembly on that go in from the front. It would have taken a really big BFH to get that drum off. It's nothing like a wheel brake drum.
