new ford fuel mileage increase?

hi, im buying a new f250 or possibly a f350 near the end of december. just looking at the fuel mileage its getting, and was wondering what i should look into, to get better fuel economy. its going to be a diesel. and just wondering what do most of you out there that drive newer diesels get for fuel mileage. thanks

Re: new ford fuel mileage increase?

Hard to predict, since the mileage you get will be very dependent on your driving type and style.

Some simple rules....

hot rodding is bad, driving easy is good

city driving is bad, highway driving is good

a manual trans will beat an auto on the highway.... no difference in town

Your boost gauge can be considered to be your "inverse fuel mileage" gauge.

I have an '06 F250 6.0 with a 3.73 axle and a 6-speed manual.... 16 around town, and 19 to 21 on the highway depending on load, speed, and headwind.
