Noise after hypertech module? Timing?
I recently installed a hypertech performance module in my 87 f150. The improved horsepower and torque is amazing!! The only problem is that I am getting what they call "spark plug noise" because of a difference in timing. Hypertech says that all I have to do to fix this is increase the timing two notches...or something to that effect. Is this hard to do? I am very mechanical and slowly learning about automobiles(as I have a very good knowledge of small engines). The biggest project I have done on this truck is changing a gas tank(pain in the a**). How do I change the timing and should I be doing this at my knowledge level? Is this noise a bad thing or does it just cut down on my fuel burning effeciency? Thanks!
PS. why do they tell me to use premium gas with this module? Do I have to do this?
