I've been searching and searching for a long bed and have come up short.

I found this one. btw - this isn't spam. I'm just looking for some folks that know their F150s. I previously owned an '87 4x4 that was a great truck. Unfortunately, the frame is shot.

My concerns with this truck are that it seems to ride a little 'level' in the back end. I'm used to seeing F150s, including my old one, that ride a little higher.

Also, should I be wary that this dealer is asking KBB value?

I've been looking for the right F150 for about a month now and I can't find one that suits me.

Feel free to call me an idiot but... everything out on the market is a SuperCrew or Supercab with a short bed.

I feel that the 1997-2003 F-150 trucks were the best of them and they are also more reliable than the 2004-present models.

If you live in the same region as the dealer (and myself) you want to look at the exhaust manifold studs. They commonly rust and get thin and eventually break off. It is an expensive repair if you gotta drill them out.

That truck looks like it is priced fairly for the low miles and all the options. Remember that some of these fancy options also can cause problems when they fail. I prefer a truck with rubber floors, manual windows, and nothing fancy, but that's me.

You've confirmed my opinion about those model years. That Lariat that I looked at was sold by the time I called to make an offer. It was sweet, but it didn't look like a 'work' truck which is what I need. Probably for the best that I didn't get it. I'm with you about the fancy options. I need a good stereo and that's about it. One option that I really missed having on my '87 was intermittent wipers but I guess all of the newer models including the regular XLs have that anyway.

Thanks for the tip about the exhaust manifold bolts. I'm definitely going to be buying another F150 so that will come in handy. Is there anything to do to maintain those bolts once I purchase the truck? Grease 'em up? Spray them WD40 or anything?

In the meantime, I've been searching the internet and dealers within 50 miles of the Pittsburgh area and am having a hard time finding an F150 4x4 with an 8' bed, decent mileage, and fair price. It seems that everything on the market is a SuperCab with the shorter bed. Someone told me that less than 2% of the F150s built have 8' foot beds.
