2000 f250 with 5.4 eng. when pulling a load camper, trailer it overheat but when not pulling a load it dont??? please help

Does it slowly get hot or very quickly? How many miles on it?

about 8 miles down the road then i had to drive about 35 mph too keep it out of the red. 980000 moles

First thing I would check would be the radiator. Check the external fins are clear but it may be dirty inside the radiator core. Sometimes a rust film creates problems with heat transfer so it may need internal flushing. Perhaps the radiator tanks will need removal and the tubes cleaning.

I would bet you have a restricted radiator from age and sludge.
