Hello, I am the proud owner of a 2003 F350 Super Duty. I have a question about the operation of the 4 wheel drive. Could you explain to me what is difference if I just turn the switch for 4x4 in the cab or if I actually turn the hub locks?
the 4x4 operation on a f250 is opposite of the f150. on the f250 you have an vacumm control valve. the applies vaccum to your hubs to lock the acle to the hub. when you turn the hub to the lock position you are locking the axle and hub to a solid state tell you unlock it manually. now on the f150 you has the a vacum control vavle also but it drops the vacumm to lock the hubs in and most f150 for 97 to present dont have the option from factory that is to a manual locking. now on the f150 if a vacumm line was to brake you would still have 4x4 unlike the f250. hope i explained everything alright for you
