Quick background and then my questions...

I use to have a 97 V6 F150 (ext. cab) with an ol' flowmaster/magnaflow that I had cut off (super old and rusted). So this was my first experience with Cherry Bomb mufflers and it sung like a jailbird. :) super loud!!!...I loved it!


However, I had to get a new vehicle and of course I got a 2003 f150 v8 triton (5.4L) (ext. cab). Someone suggested "branching out" and trying a magnaflow/flowmaster so when I took off the HUGE factory muffler I put on a flowmaster/magnaflow and just did NOT cut it like I thought it should/would (loud wise).

So with that said, I will more than likely be purchasing a newer truck, either a 2005-2008 F150 supercrew or a 250 supercrew.

1. To get the loudness that I had once had, would it be safe to say that using a Cherry Bomb again will guaranteeingly give me that loud sound again (on my 2003)?

2. Will a Cherry Bomb still work (loud-wise) on a new 05-08 150?

3. If I get a 250, are they possible to change the exhaust to something that will be louder or no? (will a Cherry Bomb work is what im asking?)

I konw this is a long post but nobody seems to know these answers. I have ford faith that you guys (and girls) will.

Some of the loudest exhaust systems I have seen for Mod motors are SLP Loudmouths. Don't know if they do truck applications. I know for mustangs, they scare old people. :)

i dont have a moded motor so i just need to know which will be the loudest muffler (or cherry bomb) i can put on my v8.

Sorry for the confusion by Mod motor, I was referring to the Modular engines...the 4.6L and 5.4L, as opposed to the pushrod motors, 302 351, etc. Like I said, check out SLP Loudmouths.

I dont know the differences btwn all of the liters of engines (or engines themselves [v8, v6, v10, etc.] and stuff but i do know mine is a 5.4L.

However, I looked up loudmouths and anything i found results that loudmouths are for mustangs and similar souped up cars only...so that wont work for me.

I went into my local autozone and inquired with them and of course, as usual, they had no idea about what to get or do. so i browsed through their auto parts guide and came across gibson mufflers and purple hornies glasspacks (GP).......STRANGE name.

i know i cant do gibson b/c the only one that fits my model ford comes right off about a foot from the cat. Well i have running boards so that wont work. So now it seems to either get Cherry Bomb GP or these odd-named Purple Hornies GP.

dynomax race magnums are super loud on my truck it is an 01 4.6l i have true dual exhaust though w/no catylast converters.to make your truck loud you have to get high flow cats or no cats at all.

to bkmurray98. i've heard of the dynomax magnums and i'll look into 'em. as far as the cats go, it's illegal where i live to not have a cat, to hollow one out or much else anything so that's not an option.

then go w/magnaflow high flow cats and race magnums 2.5" in on the muffler&3" tail pipes
