will the heat off the motor cause a starter to drag? the reason i ask is that when i drive my 89 F150 it cranks right up. i can drive it 5 miles or so and shut it off and try and crank it 5min later it will drag. i can wait about 20 min. or so and it cranks like a new one. also can it be tested and will the test be the same as driving it? thanks Mike
Yes, heat from the engine can cause this. Is the heat shield still in place? What kind of test are you wanting done? Amperage draw? Already sounds like you need a new starter.
thanks fonz for the info. i was thinking a new starter too. just 3 more things i`d like to do to it this summer so i can finish it.if i can figure out how to put a pic of it in the gallery i`ll do it to see what you think. thanks again
