Trailer brake wiring

I have a 2000 F150 with a factory installed tow package. I am looking to buy a camper with electric brakes, so I know I need to buy a trailer brake controller. My question is: Is the truck already wired from the cab to the rear of the truck/is there a connector under the dash I need to look for?

Re: Trailer brake wiring

The wiring should be in place. You can go to the dealer and get the factory 7 way that will plug into the wiring at the rear of the truck. There should also be wiring in the dash or under the hood for the brake controller. You can buy brake controllers that will plug into the existing harness. And you may or should already have the wiring harness for the brake controller. Should be in a little pack that came with the truck.
