I have a 2001 F-250 V8 5.4L super duty.

How much transmission fluid is recommended? I have put in 5L so far.

16.7L for my automatic trans seems like way to much...

I left out a note. I'm guessing dry-fill means empty converter. If you are doing a fluid change then It won't take that much.

6)Indicates only approximate dry-fill capacity. Some applications may vary
based on cooler size and if equipped with an in-tank cooler. The amount
of transmission fluid and fluid level should be set by the indication on
the dipstick’s normal operating range.

Ok makes sense! I put in 5.5L earlier today checked for leaks it was good to go...the truck was running and the fluid level was fine. I warmed up my truck this evening and my fluid level was reading no fluid...no drips everything is fine. I knew there was fluid in the system because I did it myself and nothing was dripping, when I get home driving for 5 min The reading is fine.
