confused Truck jump out of gear while driving

I have 1986 ford F-150 4x4. I just had a new engine 351w and new c-6 tranny put into it. When I got it back it drove fine but would not engage the
4x4 now when i'm driving it's jumps out of drive and the gears to engage 4x4 starts grinding. I have to put the 4x4 gear in neutral to stop the grinding, trun off the truck place it in park and push it until the gears lock before i can restart it and drive off. Sometime while coming to stop it will jump out of gear. It seems as if the tranfer case is not aligned properly I don't know. Can anyone help me out on this one?
